Common Mistakes on Doing Lip Liners

March 30th, 2010

I was watching Kitchen Nightmares the other day, and was really bothered by how the owner wore her lip stick/liner .

For ladies who like to use lip liners as part of your daily routine, here is a perfect example of what NOT TO DO. Ce Ce in the photo below, used lip pencil to outline only the rim of the lips.  After a period of time,  the color from lip stick wears off due to eating and talking, leaving the strong pencil outline of the lips. It is very unflattering!

If you are wearing a dark or vibrant lip color,  use a lip liner color that is similar to your lipstick. Outline and also pencil the whole lips with the pencil. Then apply your lipsticks over the penciled base. This way you are creating a base for the lipstick to last longer and it will look more natural!

Chinese New Year “One World Celebration” @ River Rock Casino

March 30th, 2010

I have never been to the River Rock Casino before, this was a very interesting first time visit. I was so lost when I got there and I had no idea where I should be going.  Luckily, a very friendly casino employee helped me carry all my equipment on a trolley and brought me backstage through a maze-like walkway.  Without him, I would be so lost and would have suffered from my heavy makeup and hair kit.

Before the show started, I got to go on the stage and experience what it is like to be standing under the spot light. I stayed back stage most of the time to make sure the hosts and performers were looking fabulous and ready to go on stage.  Backstage is fun; it can get very chaotic as performers try to rehearse as much as they can before they go on stage and assistants run around to make sure everything is on schedule.

It takes so much to make a production successful, and seeing everyone put so much effort into their performance makes me feel so touched!

Engagement Photoshoot

March 2nd, 2010

This wedding photo shoot took place at Steveston, Richmond.  It was another cold rainy day with an overcast sky.  Again, cold weather made me feel so clumsy because of the thick layers of clothes I was wearing.  Madi and Will really did a good job despite the poor weather.

Colourful City

February 16th, 2010

It was freezing cold the day we shot this series.  Despite the poor weather, Viktorya had to stand in the freezing rain and wind in her silky sexy dress.  Me on the other side of the camera, was wearing a fluffy scarf and two thick winter jackets.

I am so honored to work with Collette Renee, from L’Atelier Hair Salon;  not only has she been published in many well known media, her talent really inspires me to experiment with more creative hair styles.  Here is a behind the scenes photo of Viktorya with her cute umbrella.

A Meaningful Event

December 30th, 2009

There are many young talents who participated this in memorial charity event, including various music groups such as Ambition, Audacious & Arista, as well as song writing contestants. During the advertising photoshoot for this event, I had to apply makeup on 14 people in one day. It was a long but fun day.

I am very honored to sponsor this music contest. I am glad everything turned out well and it was a successful night.

Jennifer’s Wedding- Oct 17, 2009

November 7th, 2009

It was an early morning for everyone, we started at 4am. Although everyone was still sleepy when I arrived, the house quickly filled with happiness and excitement for Jennifer. It was raining so hard in the morning, but the weather turned better in the afternoon for the wedding photoshoot.

During the banquet, Wayne sang a song for Jennifer and it was so sweet! The day ended with happy tears and good food and desert!

Photoshoot over the Thanksgiving Long Weekend

October 16th, 2009

I did a very exciting yet challenging photoshoot with Ben and Alex over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

The main concept of the shoot was to capture the beauty of autumn, and we worked with a lot of leaves that day. It was fun looking for leaves in parks early in the day; all the leaves we got had already fallen onto the ground, so don’t worry, we didn’t damage the environment!

Working with Ben is always fun. Ben is so professional and Alex is just adorable! I got to do something crazy with the makeup design; we decided to put paint and powder on Alex. It was my first attempt to do something like this, and I really like how it turned out! For one of the sets, I also got a good workout because I had to throw leaves in the air by going up and down on a chair!
